Totally Safe Moon Project System Requirements

Updated ยท 3 min read

To run Totally Safe Moon Project you need 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5 at 2.5 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 6600 XT, DirectX 12 and 4 GB of free storage. The recommended spec is Windows 11, a Core i5 at 3.0 GHz or Ryzen 5, 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 2060 or RX 7600 XT, with 6 GB of storage. It is a Windows-only Steam game.

What the numbers mean

  • Graphics: the two "minimum" cards are not equal. A GTX 1060 is a 2016 mid-range card; the RX 6600 XT is a much newer and faster card. If you are on AMD, cards slower than an RX 6600 XT are below the official minimum, but that does not necessarily mean the game will not start. The developer simply has not listed them.
  • CPU: the game is a physics sandbox. Each object you pick up, stack and attach is simulated, and late in a run your tower can contain dozens of cars, buses, houses and even windmills. A stronger CPU helps keep the frame rate steady when a tall tower collapses or asteroid rain hits it.
  • RAM: 8 GB is the floor; 16 GB is recommended. Close browsers and streaming software if you are on 8 GB.
  • DirectX 12: required on both tiers, so the GPU and driver must support DX12.
  • Storage: small. The game needs 4 GB, with 6 GB recommended.

How does it run in practice?

The game is too new for detailed benchmarks, so we will not invent frame-rate numbers. What we can say from launch-week sources:

  • One Steam reviewer opened their review with "Runs fine" while criticising the game's length rather than performance.
  • The game uses a stylised, low-detail art style with simple characters and buildings, as seen in the official screenshots and trailers.
  • Recorded YouTube runs with four players show the full climb to the Moon without obvious performance problems.

If you have trouble, the usual fixes apply: update your GPU driver, lower the resolution or graphics settings, and make sure the game runs on your dedicated GPU rather than integrated graphics on a laptop.

Laptops and handhelds

A gaming laptop with a GTX 1060-class GPU or better meets the minimum. Office laptops with only integrated graphics are below the listed requirements. Windows handheld PCs are below the recommended GPU spec; the game has no official Steam Deck rating yet.

Multiplayer and internet

Co-op is online only, so you will need an internet connection to play with friends. Steam does not list a separate bandwidth requirement. See the multiplayer guide.

Bottom line

If your PC can run most indie games from the last few years, and in particular has a GTX 1060 or better with 8 GB of RAM on Windows 10 64-bit, you meet the official minimum. At $5.99 and with Steam's refund policy (typically within 14 days and under 2 hours of playtime), the risk of trying it is low. Before buying, check our release date and price page.
